God Is On His Throne!

We have had many discussions with our children this week on what God says in His Word about people who are in authority. I have 2 kids that are all reved up over the results of the election. I love their passion but realized how I needed to help direct that passion so that it glorified God. I have encouraged them to start praying for the new President, the leaders that he will appoint and for our country. God is on His throne and He reigns over all the nations. All things were created by him. Our new President was created by God! You would think that this would be a no brainer to a 8,10,12 year old who loves God and wants to follow Him, but it was an AH HA moment for them. It just reminds even more the great responsibility I have to train them in the ways of the Lord and to guide them in His Word.

You, O Lord Most High, are awesome,

The great King over all the earth!

You are the King of all the earth,

And I will sing Your praise.

You reign over the nations;

You are seated on Your holy throne. (Psalm 47:2, 7-8)

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. 17He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (Colossians 1:15-17)

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— 2for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. (1Timothy 2:1-2)
